Shamian Island and Christmas
Quick Christmas story - Down in the lobby, the hotel has a big Christmas tree set up. They had a Chinese girls choir sing Christmas carols on Christmas Eve. I love to hear the Chinese speak English, or Engrish. Well, they sang Silent Night. These girls, with the biggest smile on their faces, fortunately didn't see me laughing because they sang Swee in Ebony Pee. I laughed all the way to the room.
Below is Shamian Island. This is where we shop and shop and shop. They have everything, good quawity, and good pwice. You wike, I show more. All of the streets look like this. Cross between a park and historic area.

This is the inside of one of the stores. Most of them are packed tight and have very low ceilings. I'm 6'-4", the top of the archways were around 5'-4".

Spencer and Simon had tons of sword fights with 1 dollar wooden swords. Best thing we bought over here. They played for hours.

Yazi is trying on some of the paraphanelia from the trip to Shamian. She pooped big time while there, so some lady laid down her rugs so Chelle could change Yazi. Chelle felt so bad, she bought that outfit that the Yazster is wearing. The hat is another Honey making. Socks, shoes, take your pick, it's all at Shamian, even the Magic UFO and Spencer's silk pants and shirt. He looks quite good. Berry goot qwauwity.

Showing off some more of the goods. We even have a made in China Tshirt with made in the US parents.

She started puckering today. We don't why. She doesn't give sugars or kisses, but she puckers. So don't expect wet sugars Aunt Jo. It ain't gonna happen.

Y'all are cracking me up! Great work at keeping up the updates, despite all your Internet entanglements. Wish we could be in AR when you get back!

Well, when you're real sleepy, ebony pee probably isn't the worst place to do it. Maybe we could get Babba Wawwa to do a special on it.
We can't wait to see you guys.
Does she get cuter everyday or what????
Love you all,Stay safe.

Dear Miss Yazi,
Haven't checked the site in a couple of days, but I must say you're stylin' in your pink outfit! You are as cute as can be, even in Razorback attire, and we are gonna miss you and your family when we part ways in Newark! We'll do some final bonding on the 15 hr. plane ride there...Much love from your Sooner friends...Dan and Neila and Allie!
I would have been trying so hard to get them to sing "Jingle Bells" (just like in the movie "A Christmas Story" when Ralphie & Family go to the Chinese restaurant for Christmas dinner), but I probably would have peed my pants and been beat red if they did...
She's a cutie! Pucker up!
However, James, the #1 hit at the "Chop Suey Palace" was:
Deck the harrs,
With barrs of horry.
Fa, ra, ra, ra, ra,
Ra, ra, ra, ra.
Jeff,

As a friend of Chip and Dee Dee, I want to say congratulations and what a beautiful little girl you have adopted and what special people you must be to take on such a gift of life and love, such a treasure. We wish you all the best in your endeavors to bring this baby girl up to the level of your expectations and your faith.
She is lucky; so are you.
Sincerely,
Roger and Kim Fox
I'm sure that Yazi will one day look back on your mockery of her native land and language with great admiration Dad! Way to go!!!
Jeff, Michelle and Spencer,
I just wanted to tell you what a privilege I consider it to have known you guys for the past 9 years. You are truly a wonderful and loving family. Yazi is as fortunate to have you as family as I am to have you as friends.
I also consider it a privilege to have been able to keep up with this last step of your saga via your blog. Having kept up with your postings for each day, it is not only a testimony to your love for your friends that you have kept us so well and interestingly informed - it is a testimony to your love of Yazi and of others that you have posted such fitting and reverent tributes each step of the way. I can feel like I have also been there, but without the expense or jet lag. Anyone who has read the blog from beginning to end cannot but marvel at the love and courtesy of each and every post.
I also appreciate the special insights that you have given to the beauty of the land, the people and the culture. Few things have moved me like the story of Spencer’s fortune cookie and learning about the “little duck.”
Yazi is truly blessed to be a part of a family that is willing to stand up, to speak up, and to live up to the standard of Christ’s love. There is nothing cheap or anonymous in the stand that you take. I appreciate it so very much.
BTW, we were again privileged to sit behind that Chinese family this morning in church - the family that would be in poverty rather than church had it not been for the love and intervention of your family. What a joy to be able to witness your selfless love week after week.
Give Yazi a big kiss from us. We look forward to seeing her.
In Christ,
Ed

Just want to say that I couldn't have said it better. It saddened me when I about the way the little girls were laughed at on the way back to the room. What if Yazi had been in that group?
How can you take a comment serious when you can't even put your name.
Since I don't know who you are then I can't say, you don't know my son, his wife, his family, nor his friends. Laughter is good for the soul and as precious as those children were, it was still funny and humorous. No telling what they say about ours.
Now, to my son, daugter-by-love, grandson, and new granddaughter, thanks for the memories. I will forever remember my 16 days in China. I loved every minute being with ya'll and especially "Gotcha Day." I wish Mom could be here to see her. Thank you again for your sweet letters on Mom's 100th birthday. She almost made it to that day. I will cherish the memories and share what I can with others that couldn't go.
Yazi, the Lord has blessed you with an awesome family. I look forward to seeing you grow in the Lord. The time waiting was LONG but everything worked in the Lord's timing. What a blessing it was to see you and to know that you were THE ONE to be given to your your mom and dad.
Spencer, what a great brother you're going to be. Yazi will have fun watching and learning from you. I'm glad you decided to go to China and experienc what many don't get to.
Jeff and Michelle, thanks again for everything. I would do this again in a heartbeat. I thank the Lord that he has added to your family. I will love watching her grow.
To all of the other adoptive families I met, I wish you the very best with your new little ones. Keep in touch on Jeff's blog as long as he can keep it up. He has been told that many lives are going to be bored when his blog shuts down. Encourage him to keep going.
Jeff, Michelle, Spencer, and Yazi,
I Love you!
Honey
Hey guys, we miss you already! Your famous!! I have the link to your tv appearance on my blog. Reading through some of these comments, I think some people need to get a sense of humor! I hope Yazi grows up to be as funny as her dad.

Growing up around the Greer family, you can't help but have a sense of humor. They are wonderful people who would go out of their way to help someone (even to the other side of the world). I feel blessed to have their friendship.
Mom Greer, I'm so glad you got to go and participate in that whole experience. I'm sure that Jeff, Michelle, & Spencer felt blessed to have you there too.

Good Night Now
Michelle, I realized you won't be at T. Jones when we all get back on Friday! But, although saddened, I am so excited to know that Yazi is HOME! I can't wait to meet her in person! Really feel as though I know her already after keeping up with Jeff's blog during your trip.
Tell Jeff that he is an amazing Dad... his perspective of this processs and all his insights (humorous and sentimental) have been both entertaining and a blessing. Yazi is a very lucky little girl to be a Greer!
God has blessed you all greatly!
Happy New Year and T. Jones can't wait to see you!
